Originally from California, Leila B. Nelson has lived in Las Vegas for over fifteen years. She and her husband, Clay, have two dogs, Norman and Finn. Leila enjoys a wide variety of music and art forms. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking local trails, and finding new adventures.

She loves sunrises and finds it impossible not to be happy when blowing bubbles. Leila believes that everyone should feel free to be their full and authentic selves. She hopes that through her writing, readers are empowered to be the best version of themselves and champions in their communities.

My greatest hope is that those who read my words will be inspired to be the very best versions of themselves and share their gifts with others. I hope to spark joy in even just one heart.

To all the little ones big and small; May you feel seen, valued, and inspired within these pages. May you know how very important you are and believe in your power to make a difference in this world. Remember that no act of kindness is ever too small.

Why you wrote this book and how it can help others
As a child of the Reading Rainbow generation, I remember the magic of reading from a young age and how books could fill me with such wonder and awe. Beginning with picture books and then on to chapter books, I can recall being fascinated by the different stories. Mystery, sci-fi, nonfiction, I wanted to read it all. I was filled with pride when I got my first library card and made significant use of it. Today I still read a variety of genres and can count an enjoyable book as a happy place. I wanted to give that gift to others.

For years I have written down bits of advice and anecdotes, but it was not until recently that I considered doing anything with them. It was after time with family friends that I revisited some of those passages and “Little One” came to be. I hope that this book resonates with children and adults alike and that it sparks some lifelong reading enthusiasts.
